Beach Retreat | Guest/Kids Bedroom Reveal

Hello Again!

Spring has just begun, and we’re thinking about the beach already! Our showed one of our latest projects in sunny Galveston, Texas. This home has us in the mood for summer breezes, with a cool drink in hand.

We are so excited to have received the professional pictures from this project (thanks Julie Soefer Photography!), and we thought we’d take a look at some of our favorite rooms these next couple of weeks: today, one of the guest bedrooms and baths!

[ezcol_1half]The homeowner asked for plenty of space for family to spend their summer holidays, and the cozy yet airy bunk beds help fill this need admirably! (I love the way the top bunk seems to float in midair!)

With touches of the same watery cerulean accents found throughout the rest of the home, the aesthetic is bright, white, and cool—lots of family memories to be made here!

I also love the wavy pattern of the area rug (seen below, from the bath), which neatly ties in our nautical, sea-touched theme.

The bath continues the beachy theme with the beadboard detail on the doors of the cabinetry. The deeper teal blue on the cabinetry adds a little gravitas to the room. And isn’t that porthole mirror just so fitting?

Next week, we’ll feature another couple of rooms from our beach getaway project. For more of our favorite interior images follow us on ![/ezcol_1half] [ezcol_1half_end][/ezcol_1half_end]

See you then!

Design Inspiration | London

Hi Everyone! It is a still a little gray out today and, although it is across the pond, I feel like we are right in the middle of London. Seems like the perfect opportunity to take a look at the influences this diverse and vibrant city has on the design industry.

Once you’ve spent a Spring in London, you’ll yearn for another all over again. People tend think of London as a place of fog and rain, but, in reality, there really are days of sunshine and plenty of greenery and parks scattered throughout the city. Spring brings blue skies, brisk breezes, and fresh blossoms in London gardens.

If you’ve visited , you’ll notice we’ve created boards for different cities that stand alone as true design inspirations. London is one of our favorite places—it’s one of the top world cities, if not THE world city and there’s nowhere quite like it.

Layer on some color

Hi Everybody!

Winter is having its last hurrah, and it is cold out there! I’ve been thinking of my favorite ways to bringing warmth, color and texture into a space: soft, cozy, and colorful rugs!

Rugs are both aesthetically pleasing and soft on the toes. We use rugs to help control sound in a room, as well as to add fabulous color, texture, and pattern to a room. Some might also opt for a rug to visually divide large spaces, or to add a soft and comfy layer underfoot. The choice of rug is such a great opportunity to add style and artistic expression to any space, and how could you pass up an opportunity like that?!

[ezcol_1half] [/ezcol_1half] [ezcol_1half_end]Some of my favorite spaces we’ve ever done have been anchored by the extraordinary work of , who is widely recognized as the man who has turned hair-on-hide rugs into gorgeous works of art. The colors and textures are fabulous and the pieces are all unique. There is nothing else quite like a Kyle Bunting rug!

This generously-proportioned, beautifully subtle yet striking custom rug grounds the living room furniture, adding comfort, sound control, and an entirely unique flavor to the room. In keeping with the colorful and ethereal feel of the room, the wool and silk area rug catches the light differently with every angle.

I love geometric patterns and the Greek key border of this vibrantly colored rug adds its classic influence to a strongly eclectic room.

It is a firm rule of mine to take every opportunity to add another detail or another layer – rugs are so important in that regard.

As always, check out our or our for more pics of how we use carpets and rugs in our residential projects!

Stay warm out there!

Southern Americana for the Wee One

Hello, everyone—

Hope everyone has had a fantastic week. We’d like to round out our week by focusing on the transition of the nursery of our Southern American project into a more grown-up space, ready to grow with its inhabitant!

The house has touches of dark blue with pops of brighter teal, fiery orange, and apricot, setting off the bright white of walls and furnishings—we carried over our color palette to this cozy bedroom.
