I love to incorporate splashes of color into my client’s interiors. In fact, dashes of thoughtful color are a crucial trademark of Classically Current. As with many aspects of life, all good things are best enjoyed in moderation and this certainly rings true when incorporating color into design.

So, how much color is too much? How do you strike a comfortable balance between saturated hues and neutral tones? These questions can be overwhelming for anyone just defining their color palette, but don’t let them deter you from experimenting. Here are some of my favorite ways to liven up a space with vivacious tones.

Create a neutral pallet and use color to add contrast

Creating a neutral pallet and using color to add contrast is an excellent way to become comfortable adding color to your space. The key here is to create a clean, neutral pallet and then add pops of color by accessorizing with pieces that are of a similar shade. Since accessories are easily swapped out, returned and exchanged, you can play around with various shades until you find the perfect color!

Set the tone with a statement piece

With so many options, deciding on a color pallet for a room can be an intimidating task. Sometimes, it’s easier to decide on a fabulous statement piece to set the tone and accessorize the room from there. Once you have chosen a show stopping statement piece, you can add décor in shades that are complimentary of the primary color.

Choose one color and incorporate a variety of hues

One of my favorite ways to make a splash with color without overwhelming the senses is to choose one bold hue as the base color and accessorize with statement pieces in varying shades. The best way to accomplish this is to start with a statement wall in your chosen shade and then select décor in similar shades to bring the room together.interior designer aspenclassically current interior

Whether you start small with a few colorful accessories or decide to jump into the world of color with a bold statement, don’t be afraid to take chances and play around with ideas. Most of all, remember to enjoy the creative process involved with crafting a more vibrant space!
