Heights Guest Bedroom: A design grounded in neutrals with a punch of red!

Hello Everyone!

[ezcol_1third]Today we wanted to highlight one of our favorite new interiors: our Heights Loft guestroom. This space is a great example of what to incorporate to ensure your guests are happy, comfy, and enjoy their visit!

The palette chosen for this room is absolutely urban & chic, but super versatile as well. The brick wall is contrasted with the delicate tones of the neutral walls, ivory headboard, and crisp bedding, while the strong red of the drapery, rug and accents is a fun compliment.

We are so thrilled with this look and love the unexpectedness of the black and white throw! But, by far, my favorite thing about this room are the glossy red lamps. Love. Them. So. Much.

Tangerine Dream

[ezcol_1half]Hi Everyone!

You have probably noticed that we LOVE gorgeous pops of color, in almost any space! And from our , you may have noticed our obsession with the vibrant red-orange we like to call ‘Tangerine Dream’. Our board features great ideas on how to incorporate this color into your home, all at-a-glance.

From a Dreamsicle pastel version, to a muted pumpkin, to brights that are the visual equivalent of a hefty dose of Vitamin C, orange is a great way to infuse your space with a sunny energy!

One classic pairing is a cool gray with a vibrant tangerine it – looks modern and bright and clean!

Another favorite combo is combining lavender with washed out orange. It’s feminine, but not too frilly.

Here we paired a bright tray with a custom upholstered sitting chair to add the perfect pop of orange into the formal living room of our Parkside Contemporary home.

You can bring this energetic and refreshing color into your space in so many ways; a single accent item or wall, a small grouping or accessories collection, or coating your room wall to wall in tangy color for a bold effect. and feel free to show us how you have incorporated a little tangerine into your own spaces!

5 Tips for Creating the Perfect Play Room!

Hello again!

Since we’re currently working so diligently on Joe’s dream room, we thought we’d send a few tips for children’s rooms your way! Finding the perfect balance between child friendly and fabulously stylish can be tricky. To make the process a little easier, we’ve collected 5 Tips for Creating the Perfect Play Room inspired by .

Continuing on with the keeping-clean lifestyle, we encourage using fabrics and upholstery that is breathable and as stain resistant as humanly possible. Check out our in our boutique to find some inspiration!

  1. COLOR!

Save the neutral hues for your guest suite. Kids love color and we love it too! When collecting inspiration your play room select your favorite bright-colored palette or, better yet, go for the full spectrum.

Where there is a child, there is usually a toy. Creating a space that can fit every trinket into storage is difficult to do without the right tools. Take advantage of spare corners, space under furniture, and be sure to stock up on storage bins that allow for a quick and efficient cleanup by little hands.

Kids love having space to run around! Not to mention the fact that Houston weather can be a bit unpredictable sometimes. Giving your child a space that’s both livable as well as play-friendly will make them feel like they can have just as much fun indoors as out.

Antiques, collectables, one-of-a-kind furniture and dainty accessories are so wonderful – but not anywhere near a playroom floor! Put your “fun to look at, but don’t touch” items up on high shelves or in wall-hung shadow boxes. Your kiddos will love to look at them and you can add to them over time.

Send us your ideas for kid’s play rooms – we’d love to hear them! Visit our blog for more kid’s room requests and designs!

Until next time,

We’re Moving! The New Office Series – 2

Hello Everyone!

It’s true: construction on our new office has officially commenced! As promised, we are going to document the renovation of’s new home throughout the entire process. Right now we are still in the early stages of construction, but seeing the walls go up is very exciting!

This is the view from the entry doors. When we were there yesterday they were laying the wall dividers on the left wall.

Here is Michael soaking in all the new construction! Don’t mind the pile of dirt in the middle of the room, this huge hole in the ground is for our kitchen that floats in the middle of the space.

Finally, here is the back wall up against the large scale arched windows. Here we will have conference rooms and offices.

Our much anticipated move in date will occur in the middle of June. But for now, follow all of our new developments here or on our (@laurauinc). We will be sure to keep you updated!

Until Next Time,

Joe’s List

Happy Friday!

One of my favorite aspects of design is the collaboration we have with our clients. Learning about everyone’s different tastes, history, travels and dreams for their home is so much fun. We love working on the entire home, but there is something magical about designing children’s rooms.

We are currently working on an incredible project for some of our close friends. I received this text yesterday which is the wish list from the homeowner’s nine year old son. Thought y’all might enjoy reading his thoughts for his new room: “Joe’s List”.

In case you can’t make it out clearly, Joe would like the following included in his new room:

  • Loft bed – blue
  • Wood desk
  • 2 small spinning chairs – blue
  • Small couch – green
  • 2 bean bags – orange
  • Larger chest
  • Tall lamp
  • Small lamps screwed into loft
  • Hanging light fixture
  • Wall color light – green
  • Fish Tank for George my beta fish

This is some serious detail, which we absolutely love to have at the outset of any project. And… we are going to make it all happen! We will keep everyone updated on his awesome room, which is slated for completion next year. Until then, hope everyone has a fantastic weekend.
