First, the truth: I hesitate to comment very often on interior design trends. While I love the newest of the new, my classically current design philosophy shies away from incorporating “trendy” pieces into my interiors simply for trend’s sake. Above all, interiors should be timeless, fine, comfortable, and a representation of the real you! For many reasons, I abhor disposable design and never purchase an item for myself that I don’t absolutely love and see being part of my life forever. All that said, there is one look that is currently trending that I am totally over the top about right now: Boho Chic.
This look is a natural progression of the Scandinavian Modern look that was all the rage last year and is still super hot. I have my eye on Boho right now because I am working on a fabulous interior design project in Houston’s Highland Village neighborhood. Our client loves contemporary style and asked us to soften the space with the natural, handmade elements of which the Boho look is known. Alongside the uber-talented Dbh-biz.info designers, , principal designer, and , interior designer, I have collected the BEST of the Boho Chic trend.
These are pieces that are bench-made by artisans, lovingly and thoughtfully crafted, and will have longevity and relevance long after this look reaches a fever pitch.
Top Six Boho Chic Furnishings:
Flokati Rugs and Mongolian Pillows
These are both calling cards of Boho Chic interiors and we can’t get enough of them! This super soft shag wool and ultra-luxe are equally at home on the floor in the living room or thrown lazily over a chair or ottoman.
These handmade leather ottomans are a fixture in a Boho Chic interior. The strength of goatskin will keep these fabulous poufs around for years! And… they come in a TON of colors from , to bright white, metallic and even.
Textured and Patterned Pillows
Textured, fringy, and neutral and with a little bit of shag and a dash of glam are perfect mix-ins (right next to your Mongolian lambs wool!) for the Boho Chic interior. Pull lots of patterns and textures together for a richly layered and ultra-cozy space.
White Washed Wood
Just like in modern Nordic design, natural blonde and white washed wood are right at home and ground the entire Boho look. Nothing is more quintessentially Danish than the Wishbone Chair by Hans J. Wegner for Carl Hansen & Son. If you’re looking for a classic piece to invest in, – you will have it forever!
Veneer Light Fixture
And last, but not least, a grand beech . This is truly functional sculpture and is at home in a dining room, foyer, or even a library.
So… these six items have you covered from floor to ceiling with the Boho Chic look. Enjoy, and send us your pics to show us your Boho Chic space! For more design inspiration, head over to my and !
