Two things I love are fabulous statement chairs and romantic designs. One of the pieces that brings these two loves together in a unique way is the hanging chair. It’s a versatile chair you can use in your kids’ bedrooms or outside on your veranda. Just not the same piece, please!
Last week, I attended , and it was a blast! This is my twelfth year going (yes, you read that right), and I still get excited every time. The energy cannot be beat. Hundreds of designers descend on North Carolina. For five days, they rush from one showroom to the next, with little tipples of champagne in their hands and dreams of their next design project in their heads.
When I purchased the Boulevard Showhouse, one of our biggest challenges was the windows. They desperately needed to be replaced. But because the home is historically protected, it was a trickier process. The preservation society requires all renovations to remain true to the historic look of the home. So, I needed historically accurate windows that were also modern-era, energy efficient. , thankfully came in with the perfect design. They presented it to , and now I have gorgeous windows that meet the needs of the preservation society and hot Houston weather.
Many of our clients have children (sometimes lots of children), which is fabulous because I love designing stylish kids bedrooms! I’m even thinking about redesigning my girls’ room this year. One of the common misconceptions many folks have is that they have to leave their kids rooms out when designing a luxury residence. This isn’t the case at all! It’s definitely possible to design a chic, stylish room your kiddos will love that coordinates with the overall design of your home.
I love projects that really exemplify these 3 key elements: classic elegance, functionality, and comfort. We hit the trifecta in this romantic, contemporary home. The client has a young family and loves to travel, so she desired a space that was foremost family-friendly, but also worldly and sophisticated.
Last week, I attended the , one of my favorite markets of the entire year! No one can deny the positive energy Las Vegas exudes. It’s always packed, even in winter. Everyone is smiling, drinking, eating, gambling, enjoying, and rushing from place to place. It’s so many things at once. I like to think of the Strip as “glamorous, but approachable” and that’s exactly how I would describe Market.
Whether it’s a master suite or a guest room, the bedroom is one of the most important spaces in your home. It’s where you enjoy time with your family on lazy Sunday mornings and where you recall the day with your spouse before bed. And of course, it’s where you sleep! Since you spend one-third of your life sleeping, you want to have a bed that allows you to honor that time.
I can’t express how much I enjoy home renovations! I always find it exciting to restore the original beauty of a home. Renovation projects also align perfectly with my Classically Current design philosophy. My goal for every interior is to create beautiful and enduring spaces enjoyed for generations to come.
“What is your design style?”
It’s a question I get asked all the time, especially when I’m meeting with clients for the first time. And it’s one of the most important questions to ask when you begin working with an interior designer. After all, you are looking for someone to design your home, your sanctuary. A place to build a beautiful legacy for years and generations to come. It’s critical that you and your designer are on the same page.
If you’re starting a new design project, choosing a color scheme for your home may seem like it’s the first thing you need to do. Your home, after all, will be your sanctuary, as well as a place to entertain family and friends. You want a space that reflects your personal style and interests. So, you start flipping through magazines, reading design blogs, and to find the perfect residential color scheme.
