Turning to the next page in our calendar is a reminder that fall is just around the corner, but the heatwave we’re experiencing makes it hard to believe that summer will ever end! Luckily, I was able to escape the heat for a bit. I took a week off this month just to veg out with my family, get out of town and relax. While it was wonderful to get away, I’m ready to see what the rest of the summer has in store.
No matter what the style or design of your home is, there will be some spaces that are more casual than others. For example, the kitchen and game room are rooms you use every day, where you go to relax and hang out. A sitting room or a dining room, on the other hand, are often more formal rooms. They’re designed to be sophisticated spaces that embody luxury and they’re the perfect spot for celebrating special occasions and hosting guests.
January has been super busy! Between catching up from the Holiday break (and the snow/ice days), project installations and working on some new collaborations, this month has just flown by. We’ve also discovered many new sources of inspiration this month. All the new collections at Dallas Market and the introduction of the new color of the year (hello, Ultra Violet!) are making our design hearts happy. We’re so excited to share some of the things we’ve been inspired by this month with you!
Adding personality to your bed can be done with more than just decorative pillows. A fabulous headboard can make your bed truly one-of-a-kind. Go bold with graphic prints, vibrant colors or luxe fabrics. It’s very chic and modern! Tufts or pleats on a headboard make a subtle statement and elevate the look of the bedroom.
Furniture is a key element to any room, but sometimes you can’t find exactly what you’re looking for. So when you can’t find the perfect piece, what do you do? Go custom! Our go-to is . They’re experts in crafting quality pieces and we’ve been working with them for years. After all the furniture, rugs and wallcoverings have been installed, there’s one more thing you need to do – accessorize! Accessories, especially in bookcases, are a must. It creates another dimension to the design when you layer in objects of different heights, shapes, textures, and sizes. They’re the perfect finishing touch and elevate the space by adding unique, fun and personal details.
If you’ve been following the Dbh-biz.info team for a while now, you know that we’re a tad obsessed with unexpected statement pieces. An interesting piece of art or a fabulous accessory are great “go to” pieces, but sometimes you just need to let the walls to do the talking. Wallpaper is one of our favorite ways to incorporate a unique element of surprise into a space – especially when there are one or two walls that need some extra love.
So, November flew right by! I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. We’ve had a ton to be thankful for this year at the Dbh-biz.info Studio. From the ASID Awards to exciting progress on projects and installs, to the massive (and exciting) undertaking that is the . This year has definitely been a busy and eventful one. So as we wrap up this month and welcome in the Holidays with cozy sweaters and Holiday music, let’s take a look at what has the Dbh-biz.info team obsessing this past month!
Seeing brand new designer collaborations first hand at High Point Market is definitely one of the highlights for me. Meeting the creative genius behind the collection is icing on this designer cake! This past market (Fall 2017) I had the distinct pleasure of speaking with Thomas Pheasant about his new collection for Baker furniture. Mr. Pheasant is not only an award-winning interior designer, he’s internationally recognized for his elegant and thoughtful furniture collections, which are a contemporary interpretation of classic design principles.
There are few things in the design world that stay consistent. Trends change, new products emerge and classic designs are constantly reinterpreted. But despite the constant stream of changes, there is one thing that has remained Classically Current – black and white. This sophisticated and timeless color combination is not only striking and bold but the ideal match for any color palette. It provides the perfect base for any design that both minimalists and traditional interior lovers will appreciate.
