Two things I love are fabulous statement chairs and romantic designs. One of the pieces that brings these two loves together in a unique way is the hanging chair. It’s a versatile chair you can use in your kids’ bedrooms or outside on your veranda. Just not the same piece, please!
As an interior designer, I believe every space in a home should be as beautiful as it is functional. And listen, there is nothing like a beautifully designed, thoughtfully structured, high-quality piece from Century Furniture. Yes, I’m talking furniture! Beds, sectionals, footstools and everything in between.
Renovating a historic home is one of the most rewarding things as I do as a designer. And as a homeowner! Giving these old homes new love and new life honors their unique beauty. There’s a certain magic and romance to it. And I love marrying traditional or iconic designs with contemporary finishes. Add in some hi-tech touches, and you have a home that is renewed, livable, and functional. It’s a win/win/win.
But renovations can also be scary. With older homes, you really can’t be sure of what you’re getting into!
Back in 2006, when I founded the Dbh-biz.info Interior Design firm, I never anticipated that we would grow to where we are today. I guess I had a hope that we’d be where we are now. But looking back, I never thought that we’d get this far so quickly.
“What is your design style?”
It’s a question I get asked all the time, especially when I’m meeting with clients for the first time. And it’s one of the most important questions to ask when you begin working with an interior designer. After all, you are looking for someone to design your home, your sanctuary. A place to build a beautiful legacy for years and generations to come. It’s critical that you and your designer are on the same page.
As an interior designer, you learn about “design rules” early on. But after a few years, your style evolves. Very much like the old adage to “not wear white after Labor Day,” you realize that some rules were meant to be broken!
I always say there is no real “rule book” when it comes to interior design. Really, it’s more like a set of standard industry best practices to get you started. Then you create your own rules. After all, the point is to trust your own design instincts!
Over the years, wallpaper has received a reputation for being an archaic, out-of-style trend. But this couldn’t be further from the truth! At Dbh-biz.info, wallpaper never went out of style. Custom-made, intricately detailed, or hand-painted wall coverings are the Classically Current solution for transforming a drab space, and are quite luxurious, especially when made from fine silk or satin. This week we break down our favorites.
Have you ever walked into a room and felt like something was missing? Chances are it felt that way because there wasn’t a rug in the room. Whether you want to add a bit of texture, incorporate a dash of color or tie everything together, rugs are a fabulous way to make the room feel complete.
