With Mother’s Day coming up this Sunday, I want to wish a happy (early) Mother’s Day to all the wonderful moms out there. As a working mom of two young twin girls, I know very well how long, crazy and chaotic the days and nights can be and can attest that the one day a year dedicated just to us is very well deserved! However, this doesn’t mean that we expect an elaborate celebration on our special day. In fact, it’s often the smallest gestures of appreciation that truly mean the most.
With simplicity in mind, here are a couple of quick interior design upgrades you can implement around the house to spruce things up and give Mom the royal treatment she deserves this Mother’s Day!
Flowers, Flowers, Flowers
After a clean sweep through the house to make every room sparkle, it’s time to add the details. Placing small bouquets of flowers throughout the entire house will surprise Mom all day with a little present around every corner!
A pop of colorful flowers in unexpected places will remind Mom how much she is appreciated no matter where she is in the house. As an added bonus, fresh flowers are a simple way to refresh the existing interior design of a room!
Whether hand-picked, store-bought or even artificial, opting for smaller bouquets around the house is a sweet way to say “thank you” multiple times throughout the day!
A Breath of Fresh Air
Just as fresh flowers can spruce up the interior design of a room and bring a smile to Mom’s face, try incorporating additional fresh and natural elements into the home on Mother’s Day. Sunlight and fresh air have the power to elevate and brighten a person’s mood, making these elements an important factor for a Mother’s Day celebration and the overall interior design of a space. Watch the smile on her face when you this Sunday!
It may seem like a small and subtle change, but allowing natural rays into my classically current designs always brings an uplifting element to the room. Bring up the curtains and open the doors this Mother’s Day to create the same refreshing component in your home!
Of course, if Mom is craving even more fresh air and sunshine, skip the standard Mother’s Day brunch plans and enjoy a family brunch right outside in your own backyard! What better way to celebrate Mom than around a gorgeous wooden table with plenty of mimosas and fabulous conversation with the ones that mean most to her?
Whichever way you decide to celebrate this Sunday, be sure to consider the small things you can do to show your appreciation (and spruce up the house). However, if an elaborate gift is more your style, I’m sure Mom wouldn’t pass up a fab spa day either!
